Fine Antique Scottish Agate bracelet

This rare and beautiful Scottish agate bracelet is circa 1860. It has every element of fine design, proportion, color, and superior craftsmanship.

Scottish jewelry had a resurgence of interest when Queen Victoria would frequently visit her beloved castle,Balmoral. She and her children favored the tartans and she wore and prized the lovely distinctive native jewelry.

This fine example of Scottish jewelry has a central element that has a pierced and engraved gallery surrounded by agates. The section measures 1 3/4 inches long x 1 3/8 inches across. The two arms of the bracelet have raised silver bezels with inlaid agates of glorious colors melding one to the other. The sections are all finely engraved as well. Each section tapers in size and terminates with a concealed push clasp. The widest sections near the central element measures 1 inch long x 1 inch across. Measuring 7 inches long, it would accommodate an average to a large wrist. It is in excellent condition. Distinctively beautiful, circa 1860. For additional information, please read a new source book called Scottish Pebble Jewellery by Nick Crawford. It can be ordered though Lulu.com
