Stunning Art Deco sterling pin, circa 1920. This brooch has every element of good deco design, geometry, proportion, color and drama. The stones are faceted rock crystal and chalcedony. The setting is asymmetric, and the colors chosen are quite lovely and subtle. At the sides of the rock crystal are tubular, cabachon cut chalcedony. The center has three chalcedony,two half circles and one square. The design is clean with the silver work almost absent to the eye. The only focus of interest is the interplay of color and light. The sterling sides of the brooch have grill work that is simple and geometric in keeping with the design period. The brooch is actually like a fine miniature sculpture. It measures approximately 2 1/4 across x 1 inch down(center area) and is in excellent condition. It is incredibly beautiful and comes in its original leather, velvet lined fitted box.
