This hand wrought antique ring is English Arts and Crafts. It is designed in gold and silver utilizing faceted peridot, tourmalines and pearls.
The ring is attributed to Dorrie Nossiter who worked during the 1930's. She was a good friend of Sybil Dunlop and there were many similarities in their work. Many of Nossiter's pieces used faceted and claw set stones rather than cabachon as used by Dunlop. HOWEVER, it is not an absolute as both sometimes utilized cabachon and faceted. Jewelry and Metalwork in the Arts and Crafts Tradition, by Elyse Karlin page 54 has further information and page 85 has examples of her work.
This ring has a glorious color play with the natural peridot and the deep green tourmalines. Notice the swirling gold and silver on the underside of the ring as attention to detail was given even in areas not even seen. It is bold and beautiful measuring 1 inch long x 7/8 across. The ring is a size a 4/34 since two little gold balls were added for sizing. With these removed (easily done by a jeweler) it would be a size 5. This ring can also be sized larger. It is all original and in excellent condition. One pearl has some wear to the surface. It is truly, one of a kind, as this was hand made in the best of the English tradition of Arts and Crafts. 1920-30's England
