Lovely pair of walnut bookends with inset pottery tiles by Gordon and Jane Martz for Marshall Studios, circa 1960.
Gordon and Jane Martz joined Marshall Studios in Veedersburg, Indiana in 1951, and for three decades created pottery designs with a simple, modern, yet utilitarian aesthetic; their lamp design 101 winning a MOMA Good Design award in 1953. This pair of bookends in excellent condition; the pottery tiles are blue with brown drip glaze, and glossy overglaze. They measure 7 1/2" x 5" x 1". Unmarked, but guaranteed Martz pieces. |
