CHINESE CINNABAR LACQUER AND BRONZE PLATE REIGN MARK
A finely carved chinese cinnabar lacquer foliate dish with a bronze rim and carcass. The lacquer is of a deep oxblood colour. There is the remains of a seal mark to the back which has been deliberately defaced with a hot object. This seal mark would, almost certainly be Qianlong.

I have seen these dishes being auctioned as "of the period" in the past. Some of them have bronze marks and I am sure they are later but I have not seen one with a lacquer mark before. I am selling as C19th.

It measures 9 1/4inches (23.5 cm) max across.

There is some lacquer loss to the back of the rim and the bronze rim is a bit loose at that point. The base has been defaced with a hot object. The front is in good condition with some minor repairs at the rim, but no loss of lacquer. Please study photos.
