A chinese cloisonne box decorated to the lid with 5 clawed dragons over waves, the base with ruyi fungus. The interior and base are enamelled blue. Dating from the C19th., it measures 4 3/4inches (12.1 cm) across. There is a small flake to the white enamel, easier to feel than to see (photo 10). There is wear to the gilding. N.B. What looks like a chip in the main photo is, in fact, coloration in the white enamel. |
