A Japanes pottery vase with elephant handles very finely decorated with resist glazes in an archaistic chinese style on smooth ground glazes of black and green. This is a tour de force of the decorators skill. It is very much in the manner of Tanzan and possibly from his studio. Dating from c.1900, it stands 7 3/4inches (19.7 cms) high. It is in excellent condition. |
