An unusual pair of English porcelain pots decorated with a rich cobalt blue ground with hand painted floral reserves. The purpose of these items escapes me. The interiors make me think they were some kind of candlestick but they seem to have had lids (now missing). They are good quality soft paste porcelain. Dating from c.1840, each is 3 1/2inches (9 cms) across. There is some wear to the gilding and some minor frits to the bases. One has a faint hairline. |
