A very unusual twin handled cup and saucer. I do not know the factory but it is soft paste porcelain and almost certainly English. It is hand painted in brown enamel and gilt with classical figures. The cup has a wide footrim with a concave base. The saucer is similar and has a very flat profile and a cupwell. Probably dating from the late C18th./ early C19th, the saucer measures 6 inches (15.2 cms) across and the cup 4 3/8inches (11.2cms)across the handles. There is wear to the decoration and crazing to the saucer. There are no frits, chips or cracks. |
