A fine korean iron box beautifully onlaid with silver. The lid has an auspicious character on a diaper and keyfret ground. The sides have deer,birds and minogame in panels on a similar ground. It stands on 4 bronze feet . The interior has been lined with wood (Probably later). Dating from the C19th., it measures 5 3/8x4 1/8x3 1/2inches (13.9 x 10.6 x 9 cms). There is some very minor corrosion to the lid and, inevitably, minor wear to the silver at the edges. It is in very good condition and the silver is in far better condition than most examples you will find. |
