Japanese Banko pottery vase

A very unusual Japanese vase made from a light coloured pottery or stoneware in what is sometimes included in the Banko style. It is moulded with halo'ed immortals in reserves on a basket work ground.

Probably made in the 2nd half of the C19th., it stands 5 5/8inches (14.2 cms) high.

There is wear to the enamels and minor chips.
