A rare Spode porcelain cup and saucer.Well potted from a creamy-white porcelain, it is painted in bright enamels with flowers. There is a painted mark to the base.Both pieces of ogee shape and the cup has an unusual handle. Dating from c.1800, the saucer measures 5 1/4inches (13.5 cms) across and the cup 3 1/2inches (9 cms) across the rim. There is wear to the gilding. It is in good condition with no frits, chips or cracks. There is a small (original) luting fault under the base of the handle |
