A staffordshire pearlware plate decorated in strong underglaze blue with an early line engraved transfer of a chinese scene. The base is flat with no footrim and there are 3 spur marks from kiln stacking on the front rim matched by 3 sets of 3 spur marks to the back. Dating from c.1800, it measures 6 3/4inches (17.3 cms) across. It is in good condition but with some wear to the glaze on the sharp edges and some minor surface scratching. |
