Japanese Seto porcelain cup & saucer SIGNED

A very finely potted semi eggshell porcelain cup and saucer beautifully painted in underglaze blue with bamboo in a typically asymetric Japanese style. There is a 10 character mark to the base of each. In addition, the cup is marked under the glaze with the letters VM which suggests this piece was part of a commissioned set.

Dating from the 1st half of the C20th., the saucer measures 5 1/2inches (14 cms) across and the cup 3 3/4inchs (9.7 cms) across the rim.

There is a miniscule frit to the saucer (barely visible) and a chip to the inside footrim of the cup.
