CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE PORCELAIN NONYA DISH TONGZHI M&P
A Chinese porcelain pedestal dish beautifully decorated in famille rose enamels in the Nonya style with a phoenix and peony with magpies, a crane and a pair of mandarin ducks, the latter symbolising marriage.( For an identical set of subjects on a lime green ground teapot, see Ho Wing Meng's Straits Chinese Porcelain p.77 fig.41). There is a 6 character Tongzhi seal mark painted in a cartouche to the turquoise enamelled base.

Dating from the Tongzhi period (1862-74), it measures 5 3/8inches (13.6 cms) max across.

There is minor wear to the enamels and the gilding is worn. There are no frits, chips or cracks.
