| This is a fabulous Modernist 14k yellow gold and obsidian necklace by Kaunis Koru, Finland, c. 1971. The necklace measures 17" and the obsidian drop is 1 5/8" x 3/4" x 1/2" deep. I believe the stone is obsidian, however, it has a deep mauve glow when it catches the light, which is unusual - it is not as dark as one usually associates with obsidian - I would describe it as a medium to dark gray with white streaks out of the light and in the light it reflects a soft purple or dark mauve glow (see the third photo). The pendant is fully signed with Finnish hallmarks, date mark for 1971 and the Kaunis Koru mark (back to back "k"s). Condition is excellent. | ||||||||
