For sale is this lovely quality solid silver Art Deco ladies cigarette case with a gilt washed interior and a band of amethyst guilloche enamel to the front. I think this is German after doing a bit of searching on the internet but if anyone knows differently, please let me know. I'm guessing it dates to around 1930. The front has engine turned stripes running lengthwise with a lovely band of amethyst coloured guilloche enamel which is in turn decorated with gilt swag and red dot terminals. This band is enclosed within two narrow borders of white enamel. It is a very delicate and subtle piece and brings to mind French Empire style. The case is hallmarked to the gilt washed interior and is in excellent condition with just some minor scuffing, mostly to the back. The hinge is in good working order as is the closing mechanism. The case snaps firmly shut and is easy to open. This lovely little cigarette case measures 8.5cm long by 5cm wide and 0.8cm thick. It weighs 82 grams.
