For sale is this stunning antique Japanese Meiji period Satsuma vase signed Kinkozan. This is a lovely and finely painted vase depicting sparrows amongst ivy around the middle of the vase and bluebirds and green finches amongst wisteria around the top of the vase with bands of rust red scale patterning and blue and gold bands between. I particularly like the pale lemon yellow background behind the wisteria which goes beautifully with the purple racimes of wisteria hanging down. This vase is an unusual shape having a trumpet like opening and a bulbous middle flaring out to a slightly smaller foot. It measures just under 18cm tall by 16.5cm diameter across the top and 10cm diameter across the base. Clearly impressed Kinkozan mark to the base and a painted Kinkozan signature also. A striking and rare shaped piece in very good condition with no chips, cracks or restoration.
