A beautifully depicted and naturalistically posed ivory okimono of a bijin or geisha, a folding stool strapped to her back with a bunch of flowers tucked into the side of the stool. Her face is finely carved with a lovely expression. This quality okimono measures 20cm tall and is in good antique condition. There is some cracking to the base and she is missing something from her right hand and the back of her hair (possibly a hairpin). Nice cream colour overall - no yellowing. Could do with a gentle clean as a bit grubby. Signed to the base in a rectangular red seal. The stand is for display purposes only.
