This is a truly magnificent example of antique Dieppe carved ivory, featuring a twining garland of many different flowers up the large handle. There is an applied two tone silver metal (not tested) monogram and an engraved date of 1887 next to it. The handle unscrews from the shade section for ease of shipping. The ivory handle measures 42.5cm long by 2.5cm wide at the widest part and the ivory silk shade section measures 63cm long. The total length of the parasol is 105cm. The umbrella tip has a two tone silver metal ferrule encasing the ivory and the name S Fox & Co Paragon is stamped into one of the metal spokes of the shade. The ivory silk has shattered and will need to be replaced however the ivory handle, which is the undisputed star of the show, is in beautiful undamaged condition with just some minor age yellowing.
