This is a quality ivory okimono depicting an artist holding a calligraphy brush in one hand and a large pot in the other. The whole piece has been stained and coloured in sepia tones with black highlights which makes this rather a dramatic piece. The angular yet flowing lines of his coat and his stance bring to mind the art deco period - I like this piece very much. It measures 15cm tall by 6.5cm wide by 5.5cm deep and is signed to the base Seisho (or possibly Shizuo) in a rectangular reserve. Condition is excellent with just a couple of tiny marks to the top of his head attire.
