Antique Desk Frank Furness Walnut Aesthetic Movement
Rectangular American walnut leather top aesthetic movement writing desk by Frank Furness. Furness characteristic details include wide stylized feet, ringed drawer handles on curved end drawers, painted Nature garlands, stylized corners, and pediment base. See photo of similar Furness desk for sale in 1989 Sotheby's catalog which sold for $32,000 then (also Sotheby's letter to estate regarding this piece in 2002). Frank Furness (1839 - 1912) of Philadelphia, one of the most prominent American architects, also designed furniture, pieces of which can be found in museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Circa 1880. Dimensions: 60" wide X 32" deep X 32.5" high.
