|Original, Signed, exceptional limited edition etching on thick period art paper titled "La Lutte" (The Fight) by the Spanish artist Pablo Picasso (1881-1973). Circa 1950s. This piece marked 93/100 in the lower left corner. Provenance: Purchased directly from the prestigious Adriani Estate in Pasadena, California at John Moran Auction in September 2006. Signed in the lower right with Picasso’s unique “smiling face” hallmark and crossing lines (see photo). Also inscribed “P. Picasso “Lutte” on back of artboard back. Although Picasso is known to be the greatest painter and most innovative sculptor of the 20th century, he was also its foremost printer. This graphic etching is an ORIGINAL work of art, made in two steps. First, the artist creates a prepared surface with the art design or image; and secondly, that image is inked and transferred directly to paper. An original graphic etching, like this, is sometimes referred to as a print, not to be confused with an inexpensively produced reproduction (which is a copy of a work of art that was originally created in another medium). While high demand Picasso etchings have sold at auction for over $2.5 million, comparable sales in terms of medium, complexity, feel, execution, limited number, include the sale price of $29,735 for “La lecture et les jeux” Lot # 177 at Piasa, Paris, France on June 7th, 2007. Dimensions: Original paper 12.37" h. X 10" w. – pressing 10.87 X 8” – main drawing 6.75”X 7.25” (14”X 14.50 outside frame).|
