| The listed, famous landscape painter, Daniel Sherrin, United Kingdom (1868 - 1940), Member of the Royal Institute, was pupil of Benjamin Williams Leader. This oil painting, “River Rest” is extremely rare. Most of Sherrin’s subjects were based in the British Isles, whereas this beautiful piece is set in Morocco; painted during one of his rare travels. The painting is of a small village on the banks of the Bou Regreg River in Morocco which runs from the Atlas Mountains (seen in the background) to the Atlantic Ocean near Rabat. It is important to note that Moroccan and North African Art subjects command a much higher price (sometimes 3 – 4 times) that of other subject matter by the same artist. This is a true find. It comes from an estate in Pasadena, California. Recent sales of Sherrin paintings have brought more than $6,500, including the sale of “Morning After Storm” at Sotheby’s Olympia, London for $6,650. This is a chance to own a true masterpiece at a steal of a price (The price has just been reduced $5,500 from $9,400). Circa turn of the Century. Dimensions: 33” X 26” with frame, 25” X 18” without. | ||||||||
