|“Water’s Edge” watercolor by CARL OSCAR BORG, (1879-1947). The paper this piece is painted on has been confirmed to be authentic period paper (see close up photos of back of paper), - the style, color and the signature has been verified authentic (see close up of signature). His works are displayed in the University of California, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Hearst Free Library, Montclair Art Museum, Seattle Art Museum, the Library of Congress, Goteborg Museum in Sweden and the Bibliotheque in Paris. Born in Sweden, Borg came to American in 1902, won awards for his work in France in 1913 & 1914 and won the best artist award at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition World’s Fair in San Francisco in 1915. Borg paintings enjoy worldwide recognition, high prestige, and premium prices from the finest auction houses from Paris, to Copenhagen, to the United States. Recent demand for Borg’s works have caused dramatic increases in prices surmounted by the sale price of $212,800 at Coeru D’Aleane Auction in Hayden, ID on 7/28/07. While other pieces have sold from between $65,000 to $94,000, one piece comparable to this piece in size sold at the Scottsdale Art Auction in Arizona on 3/31/07 for $50,400.
