| “Portrait of Aurora Demidov” Oil on Canvas, signed lower right by Antonio Frilli, active from 1860 - 1920. This rare painting of the Russian noble woman, by the famous Italian sculptor Antonio Frilli from Florence, was commissioned by the wealthy long time Florence art benefactors the Demidov Family of Russia, (iron mine magnates and descendants of Nicolai Demidov, Prince of San Donato). First recorded as an exhibitor at the Espozione Nazionale di Roma in 1883, Frilli became one of the finest 19th Century sculptors in the Classic style. Strong demand for Frilli art works include the $200,000 sale price of the sculpture “The Three Graces” lot # 77 at Sotheby’s New York on October 26th, 2004. Includes period frame with complex butterfly joints and period stretcher. Dimensions: 18” X 15” without frame, 24” X 21” with frame. Circa late 1890s.
