| “Porto Di Genova” (Genoa Harbor) oil on canvas, attributed to Giorgio Giulio Clovio this fine piece is likely a remnant of a larger work. Born in Grizane, near Crikvenica (now Croatia), this Renaissance painter studied in Rome under Romano and new (a much younger) El Greco. Strong demand for Clovio’s work is seen in the recorded wholesale dealer comparable sale price of $84,130 of “The Last Judgement” lot # 16 (vellum) at Sotheby’s London on July 5th, 2006 and $65,000 for “Christ on the Cross” lot 10 (chalk on paper drawing) at Christie’s New York on January 24th, 2006. Circa 1570s. Dimensions: 13.5” X 10” without frame, 19” X 16” with frame. Own this fine piece for a great value. | ||||||||
