|Own a fine working example of old world period artisanship and engineering with this handsome antique German Berliner wall clock made by the Mauthe Clock Company in Schwenningen, Germany (trademark FMS), circa 1890s. The case is made of lindenwood solids and walnut veneers. The dial is celluloid with arabic numerals. The dial center and pendulum bob are both brass embossed in an art nouveau design. The crown is original. The twin train 8 day movement strikes on the hours and the ½ hours. The movement is signed with the Mauthe Eagle trade mark logo including FMS (Frederich Mauthe, Schwenningen) – serial numbers: N155006, 18289, 42/105. This clock runs great and keeps good time. Strong demand for such quality for this clock is demonstrated by the recorded sales of comparable Mauthe Berliner clocks of $2,500 and $2,300 at Time Traders Auctions and The Clocksmith.
