| 18th Century English George III period mahogany inlaid cabriole table attributed to the famous cabinet maker and contemporary of Thomas Chippendale, John Cobb (1715 – 1778). Cobb was an important leader in the Neo-classical movement of his time. It features sandalwood trimmed rectangular top of serpentine outline centered by a spray of foliage and flora of pear and apple wood above an altered single trimmed drawer, raised on the unmistakable and unmatched John Cobb style, impossibly slender, beautiful, cabriole legs each headed by trailing bellflowers. None other than Cobb could achieve such a challenging delicate feat of engineering beauty. This fine piece is from a prominent Pasadena estate who purchased it from the Garrick estate in Hampton, Middlesex in the late 1890s. Circa 1770s. Dimensions: height 28in (71cm); width 22 1/2in (67cm); depth 16in (41cm). Don’t miss this opportunity to own such a graceful original piece. | |||||||||||||
