| “By Lake Bracciano” oil on canvas, Thomas Fearnley (1802 – 1842), signed lower right, circa 1838. This brilliant masterpiece which captures the sublime light and texture of 19th Century Italy is a fine example of the unique talent of the Norwegian Master painter. Fearnley who studied at the Konstakadamien in Stockholm under Carl Johan Fahcrantz and later under Dahl in Dresden demonstrated his own naturalistic mood evocative style of the “paint from Nature” school. He traveled extensively throughout Europe and specifically Italy where his lyrical interpretations of the atmoshphere, light and warmth brought his work to its zenith. Here Fearnley conveys the feel and mood of this lakeshore North of Rome. This fine masterpiece includes the strikingly beautiful period 22 carat water gilt frame. (The frame alone is worth more than $1,000). Dimensions: 16” X 13” (22” X 19” with frame).
