Stylized pair of cranes finely depicted on paper with ink and pigments. Signed Masami and sealed. Iwata Masami (1893-1988) was born in Meiji period and active during Taisho and Showa period in Japan. He studied painting under Matsuoka Eikyu (1881-1938) in pursuit of the depiction of Yamato-e, a traditional style of Japanese painting. His artwork was first accepted at Teiten Art exhibition in Taisho 13 (1924) as well as received Japan Art Academy Award at Nitten Art Exhibition in 1961. He was made an honorary citizen of Sanjo city in Niigata prefecture in Japan. His artworks are now collected by Niijata Prefectural Meseum of Art Bandaijima.This piece comes in an original poulownia wood store box signed with the artist signature. The painting is in fine condition with tiny marks. The mounting is in very good condition.
