|This vase showcases a magnificent CATTLEYA ORCHID that has been hand enameled onto the surface of this wonderful miniature vase. The base glass is a frosted opalescent white and brown that has been finished by a layer of gold gilding on the rim. The overtones produce shading and highlights that add depth to the realistic painting of the orchid. It has a wonderfully crafted utilitarian form, thus making it fully functional as well as a joy to look at. Its origin is attributed to Webb at the turn of the last century. It is marked with the number 16 on the polished pontil. Amazingly this piece has survived in beautiful condition, thus offering a rare chance to own a true piece of artwork. Pictures do not do this piece justice. 3 ¾ in. High by 2 ¼ in. Wide. Actual colors are not quite as vivid as in the photos.|
