Longyan wood is grown in Fujian in the South of China and is used for making furniture, etc. This is a substantial altar table. It has everted flanges at each end. The top of the table is of one piece of wood. We believe one base of the table may be a bit newer than the rest of the table...

This a very nice root carving, it looks like a mountain. It was used to grace a scholar's desk. It is not as tall as some I have seen but is very well done. A stand will be made for it to sit on steadily. Very nice patina. Length: 35 cm, Width: 20 cm, Height: 48 cm.
