| This dramatic root carving was done in the 19th century at the latest The wood was naturally the shape shown here. Then a craftsman enhanced the whole object and rounded the edges and made the holes more elegant, pronounced. What does it shod? The main animal is bird head surrounded by a big hornbill. The statue is very heavy The skin of the whole piece is like that of an old man: it is wrinkled. It is very patenated. I do not know the wood. (The stand is notold but is very artistic.) | ||||||||||
