This is a large, substantial mid-Qing zitan brushpot. We reckon it was purchased in China around the end of the 19th Century and spent about 100 years in the US. It is strong, well-patinated, beautiful "niu-mao" (ox hairs, NOT "New-Mao"!!) running through the piece. Lovely patina, not re-touched or re-finished. I can find none this size in Beijing these days. Excellent condition. no nicks, chips. Plug is original. Only for the sophisticated buyer of Chinese antique wooden scholar's items. H is 16.5 cm and diameter is 16 cm.
