China Antique Sanxianghu Yixing Teapot Jade 19th C.

This is a very fine Yixing sanxianghu. The inside is an yixing purple clay pot; it has been covered with pewter, jade fittings have been added as the handle, the knob at the top, and the spout. The mark in the bottom appears to be the logo of a factory{ we see the characters for jiang (river) and shan (mountain). Excellent Condition. The calligraphy is by one Shi Quan a known 19th century scholar. Excellent condition. The calligraphy reads: "The small stones and the cool spring keep the smell of the morning. This new product of Yixing purple sand reflects literary attainment. 1837 (Dingyou) Spring month; Calligraphy is by Shi Quan." The inscription is a play on Shi Quan's name: Shi is stone. Quan is "spring" as in hot spring.
