This is a single wine warmer cup. "One for the Road". Today, finding all 3 pieces in old sets: virtually impossible, even in a single ensemble. The wine warmer is used thusly: a bottle of already heated rice wine is brought to the table; its contents are poured into a large wine warmer pot OR directly into the little porcelain cup shown here. The larger container is filled with hot water. After the wine has been poured into the little cup, the contents of the small cup are kept warm in the individual wine warmer, which has already been filled with hot water. Made in Yixing, the clay capital of China in Jiangsu province. The cover is the shape of a peach, for longevity. Here is calligraphy on the side and a mark on the base. This is all a very classic Yixing style seen in teapots and winepots.
