A rare European carved wood Hermaphrodite figure, the grotesque standing figure with dwarf like countenance showing male and female attributes, from a monastery or church, hermaphrodite figures were thought to posses supernatural or spiritual properties and can found in christian imagery on church masonry and in carvings like this, which would have once have been covered in gesso and painted, Period 18th century or earlier.
