| 19th Century Tibetan Painted Red, Black, and Gold Mask that is well patinated from considerable use, and is darkened from the smoke of yak butter lamps used in temples. The back is especially well patinated, and the old customs seal may also be found on the back. There is very thin, native repaired cracking from the eye to the mouth and on the chin. It is hardly visible and does not at all take away from the beauty of this exceptional mask. 8 inches, 20 cm. cf. Himalayas: le visage des dieux, 1995, page 65, number 86. | ||
