a bamana lock
.This door lock represents a female figure, face topped by long ears. They symbolize the engineering protector komo, the supernatural powers to hear the slightest noise. The powers of the komo are supposed to protect the witchcraft and the malicious spirits. This lock was fixed on the door of the room reserved for men (ty so) enclosure. The vertical part forms the body of the character, the legs are carved below the chest. The bolt is symbolically the arms nice age patina . from a french collector who lived in the seventies in mali. 40cm
