A Chinese pair of mother of pearl shells exquisitely carved; one with a scene of men playing a table game and attendants carrying utensils whilst in the background horsemen are fighting a battle- the whole is bordered by a profusion of shrubs and flora. The second shell depicts a battle scene, figures at leisure in pavilions and again a surround of trees.
