A Chinese figure of an elephant carved from hardstone (quartz), showing the caparisoned beast standing four square with his trunk curled.Auspicious signs engraved on the dressing, a custom made wooden stand supports this elegant and charming carving. size: 6 inches (15cm ) long x 3 1/2 inches (9cm) high x 2 1/2 inches (6cm) thick. age: C. 1910. condition: very good, natural darker veins around the trunk.

An Indian ivory figure of St. George and the dragon showing the Saint in his typical pose on a horseback and the dragon subdued on the ground. A pair of Chinese Canton enamelled shaped cups with jade belt hooks used as their handles. They are decorated with flowers, leaves etc against a yellow and a blue ground. The jades which are celadon in colour are each carved with a dragon's head and a button ( encased in metal supports) on the underneath. A Chinese ivory brise fan, carved on both sides in Canton with overall scenes of figures and flora. The sticks measure 9" (23cm) long which is larger than usual.Age: C. 1870. condition : very good, only a couple of struts on the background brise work are missing and three of the sticks have slight unevenness. Like most ans of this age, due to frequent opening and closing, the silk ribbon has been replaced some time in the past. We can obtain CITES Export Licence, if necessary(2/3 weeks).

A Chinese nephrite jade carved as a seated ram with his young. The stone is whitish with a slight yellow tinge and is very well carved and tactile. size: approx. 2 1/4 inches (6cm) long. condition: good, there is a small chip to the edge of the flat base and that is only noticeable from the base. A Chinese spinach nephrite jade brush rest shaped as a table and incised with emblems of good fortune and longevity.The stone is a good deep colour with a little whitish streak on the top . There is residual paper labels at the base of the item. This is a very charming article and in very good condition, only a slight roughness to the edge of the flat surface. age: 19 C. size: 3 1/4 inches (8.5cm) long x 2 3/16 inches (3cm) wide x 1 1/16inches (2.8cm) high.

A group of two Chinese hair pins and a slide. One, carved pale jade,of round chrysanthemum shape is mounted with six curled silver wire coils , the centre bearing an enamelled flower decoration and the back a Chinese character stamp. 5 1/2inches (14cm) long. The second example is of carnelian with bright blue enamel decoration 4 inches (10cm) .
