A Chinese ivory box, carved all over with scenes of figures, pagodas, pavilions etc. It has a lift-off internal tray with 16 divisions containing a near complete set of sewing accessories, all beautifully carved and original.This casket is a superb example of Cantonese ivory craftsmanship, exhibiting extreme detail, complex composition and fine execution.Age: C. 1860. size: 20.5 cm x 15.5 cm x 11.5 cm high.condition: the panels and friezes are fine, two tiny surface chips one above the key hole and the other on the back around a hinge.Age -related cracks and old repair to the feet, and a replacement support for the internal tray and silk lining. Please consult the images. The base was made from three pieces of ivory joined together. The box is very much in its original condition, free from modern restorations.
