| A Chinese ivory casket of octagonal shape with a raised hinged cover and bracket feet.The panels are superbly and deeply carved with detailed scenes of everyday life, figures, mountains, pagodas, pavilions and gardens. A high quality and sumptuous example of Cantonese 19th. century craftsmanship. In exceptionally good condition, it measures 20.5 cm X 18 cm x 12.5 high. age: C. 1860. Please note that the gap showing in the base image is not a crack. These larger caskets were usually made of two sections of ivory and stuck together.
