| The beautiful silver fish serving set has a serving knife and fork. The serving knife measures 11 5/8 inches with a 6 1/2 inch blade that is pierced and engraved with floral flourishes. The fork measures 9 5/8 inches with the collar and tines measuring 4 1/2 inches. The forked also has piercing and engraving. The handle of the knife is marked with "HH" and a double fleur de lis-like mark. On the blade of the knife there are a series of marks each in its own indented circle: What could be a "W", an "S" in old English script, a cross that looks like two capital "I"s crossed, a "B" in old English script, and a crown. I have not been able to identify these marks, but with the information I have would date this set as Victorian or earlier eg 1850s on. The handles have a shell pattern at the bottom. It is a very attractive set and in very good condition. There is a little wear or pitting on the shell of the knife, but it is certainly sturdy enough to use as a serving piece. | ||||||
