Antique Spreader with Sterling Hilt and Mother of Pearl
The antique English spreader has a silver plated blade, a sterling silver hilt and a lovely dark mother of pearl handle. The spreader is 6 1/2 inches long. The blade is marked "EPNS" and is 3 1/2 inches long. The mother of pearl handle is 2 3/8 inches long. Joining the handle and the blade is a sterling silver hilt marked "G.B. (a crown), (a lion), e". This translates to Sheffield, England, 1828. We have 2 of these spreaders and both are in very good condition. The spreaders can be used for butter or for pates and cheeses.
