Opium Pipe Fashioned From One Solid Piece of Ivorv
A 19th Century well used Opium Pipe fashioned from a solid piece of ivory.
A unique and beautiful piece.
The body of the pipe is decorated in very finely executed scrimshaw featuring images representing longevity. The body of the pipe is signed. The saddle, front end cap and decorative band at the back are made of heavily silvered copper. These are finished in a very detailed bearded dragon motif. The Chinese Stoneware Damper features a dragon and snow lion and is triple marked at the bottom.
This is the damper on the pipe when I acquired it as part of a collection. I am almost certain that the pipe body itself originated in Indo-China most probably Vietnam.

Dimensions: length—16 3/4 inches
circumference of body between saddle and end cap—5 1/2 "
