A Monumental Virgin Mahogany Louis XV Armoire Bordelaise
Armoire made from solid and beautifully patinaed virgin Honduran Mahogany. This majestic antique consists of an arched and tiered cornice sitting upon an arched façade providing an elegant pair of double paneled contoured arched doors. The doors featuring exquisite hand-carved intricate detail of Floral & Foliage.
The doors open to a very large storage compartment with 8 adjustable shelves (all shelves not pictured).
The armoire sits on short fluted legs. Original Hardware.
The finest mahogany was imported to Bordeaux and other port cities in France from the colonies in Central and South America. Only the finest of wood was used to make impressive furniture for this region and this is certainly evident in this masterpiece.
The size, importance of the cornice along with the rich carvings and exceptional panels make this an imposing piece.
