A quintessential l Cultural Revolution image, this statue features Mao surrounded by all together four young red guards, who appear to be of ex college students. In this complex and vibrant, idealistic and colorful color ceramics, it features Mao wearing a young pioneer scarf, an armband. These red guards are wearing the Cultural Revolution armbands, wearing red books and serve the people bag. During Cultural Revolution Mao interviewed the Cultural Revolution young red guards 8 times in Tiananmen Square, total of 8 million students showed up for his interview. During these meeting / interviews, Mao encouraged students turned Red Guards to head to different local government and establish the Cultural Revolution committee and challenge intellectuals or field experts’ positions. Many intellectuals, formal governmental officials or field experts died during these Red Guards’ movement, many suffered unbearable humiliation, torture and so called “Class struggle” sessions conducted by these naïve yet passionate red guards.
