This unusual poster features Mao in his famous pose, with arms extended. The rarity of this poster has to do with the background message, where Lin Biao's words praising Mao was seen in calligraphy. It states the following: "Sailing the ocean requires the great helmsman, Revolution relies on Ma Ze Dong's theory. Sign Lin Biao, date: 1967, October 29th." Developed by Chinese Marine's Political Department, this poster was made for a special occasion, as indicated in the red letters just below the image. Still called Lin Biao the Vice Chairman, who was thought to be Mao's successor, the artist developed a poster for the Chinese Marine's advance students in studying Mao's theory. Lin Biao, a famous general, had gone to the Mao's theory's studying session formed by the representatives from Chinese Marine division and gave a pep talk to these representatives from different divisions. This poster was developed for Lin Biao's visit. Lin Biao fell out of favor of Mao shortly after and died in plane crash in an attempt to escape Mao in late 1960s. Size: 30" by 16".
